APPLE MIXTURE INGREDIENTS
- 6 large apples of your flavor choosing, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons cardamom
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8-1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Juice from 2 large lemons
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
CRISP INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- 1.5 cups old fashioned oats
- 1.5 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter (par melted)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray an 8”x8” baking dish with non stick cooking spray.
- Mix the apples with the remainder of the apple ingredients and pour into the prepared baking dish. It’ll be a decent mound, but will shrink as the apples cook.
- Add all of the crisp ingredients to a large bowl and combine with your hands. By using your hands, you’ll be able to fully incorporate the ingredients together while still maintaining a crumb texture. Do not overmix to the point where it’s a solid mass.
- Add the crumb mixture onto the top of the apples and make sure it’s even distributed.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and the juices are bubbling.
- Let cool for 10 minutes and enjoy!
Note: I prefer to store the apple crisp in the fridge, but it may be left out overnight as long as it’s covered. It should last up to 5 days.
